After 32 years at four colleges in the 北卡罗莱纳 Community College System, Mike is an active member of the 胜博发娱乐app下载 board and is currently the Association’s president. He enjoys setting his own schedule in retirement, as well as traveling with his spouse. He’s also found that an unexpected joy in retirement is, “I can stay busy doing nothing.”

He was a principal and Assistant Superintendent of Wake County Public Schools, Assistant Superintendent of Johnston County, a Staff Consultant for 高 schools DPI, and Director of Board Development for the NC School Boards Association. Vann serves on three 胜博发娱乐app下载 committees - Executive, Local Government, and Governance and Leadership. When it comes to retirement, he enjoys the extra time to spend on 读ing and traveling, as well as the honor of serving NC governmental retirees through his service on the Board.

Jerry says that retirement allowed him to drop the stress and focus on family time and travel - including spending time with his two-year-old grand女儿.

She was then elected as the 17th Gaston County Clerk of Superior Court and Probate Judge for 北卡罗莱纳 Judicial 区27-A. Flexible scheduling and the ability to travel with family and friends have enriched Suzanne’s retirement, and she is currently raising and training a new puppy to adulthood.

A member of the Government Relations and Local Government committees, Tom enjoys traveling and playing golf in retirement. He has also found unexpected enjoyment in working on issues that affect retired 北卡罗莱纳 seniors.

A NC public school teacher at the middle, 高, community college and university levels, Melissa also served an eight-year term as a policy maker on the NC 状态 Board of Education. She recently moved from Carolina Beach, NC到Poquoson, VA and is now serving as an At-large board member who is on two committees, Governance and Leadership and Outreach and Engagement. Retirement finds her enjoying her volunteer work at a local aquarium and RVing cross-country. Melissa says freedom from grading hundreds of essays means she has time to pursue neglected hobbies, such as playing piano and guitar, creating stained glass art, and designing needlepoint canvases.

Dee has 40 years in public service, with 27 of those as a city manager in four 北卡罗莱纳 cities. He also served nine years as the Executive Director of the Triangle J Council of Governments and four years as Secretary of the NC Department of Environment and Natural 资源. On the board, Dee is a member of the 金融 and Government Relations committees. He is also a member of the Local Government Employees’ Retirement System and the Teachers and 状态 Employees’ Retirement System. Retirement has given him and his wife the chance to travel abroad and domestically and to divide their time between Raleigh and their mountain getaway in Asheville.
